Welcome! Housing Law Overview,
November 13-14, will be held at American
Friends Service Committee, 65 Ninth Street, San Francisco 94103.

Both days of the training begin
promptly at 8:30 a.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. Please arrive between 8:00
a.m. and 8:15 a.m. to receive your materials. Continental breakfast and
lunch are provided for both days.
Thursday, November 13
Please
complete these exercises before the training. We will review this
information in the first two sessions.
Exercise 1
Bring
at least one news story from any source (for example, newspaper, web,
radio, TV) that raises affordable housing issues in your community. Be
prepared to summarize it very briefly.
Exercise 2
Answer the
Affordable
Housing Quiz (pdf). Compare your answers to the responses. Be prepared
to discuss what surprised you or didn't surprise you about the answers.
Exercise 3
Complete
Match the Organization
with the Acronym (pdf).
Exercise 4
Read
Designing
An Affordable Housing Plan (pdf)
and jot down your responses. This
exercise lays the groundwork for understanding Housing Law basics by
drawing on your own experiences and knowledge about housing and
communities. You will complete this exercise in a group of 8-10 people
at the beginning of the training.
Exercise 5
Answer the questions in
the
Housing Law Overview Introduction Exercise
and bring it with you to the training.

P.S.
You will receive a binder
of materials each day of the training. Guide to Housing Problems of
Low Income Clients (Day One) contains several hundred pages in a
binder (11x12x4). Eviction Defense Handbook (Day Two) contains
300 pages in a binder (11x12x2).
Consider a backpack or some other means
of carrying them.
