Bill Compton

Previous12345Next
Bill Compton was director of Project Return: The Next Step, a program that offers peer-to-peer support to people with mental illness in Los Angeles County. As a PAI board member, Bill was at the forefront in raising GLBT issues for PAI and the disability community at large. Bill’s presentations on self-help were a standard part of the Mental Health Association's training curriculum for mental health professionals, families and consumers. Diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, his personal history with mental illness strengthened his resolve to help others become more self-reliant. In 2003, Bill received Eli Lilly's "Helping Move Lives Forward Reintegration Awards" in the Mentorship category. He died in 2007.
