and 8:45 a.m. to receive your materials. Continental breakfast and lunch
will be provided.
Pre-training Exercises
Please
complete these exercises before the training.
1. Complete
Role Expectations (Bring to the Forum)
To be in sync with current job
demands and priorities, you need to know what is expected of you.
Completing this exercise will help focus you on the results that you
want to achieve as part of a high-performing work group.
2.
Task & Time Log (Bring to the Forum)
Completing this
log helps you get a snapshot of how you’re spending your time. Be as
accurate as you can. Note each time you begin a new activity.
Be specific, for example, “copied advocate X’s brief” rather than “did
photocopying”. Note personal activities, when you take lunch or
other breaks, are interrupted, and check email. If you work on a
single project for a continuous hour, note that project once. If
you stop what you’re doing, note it and mark down when you restart.
a. Keep your log for 3 days to a week (the ideal).
b. Once you’ve completed the log, review it, indicating whether each
task falls within the —
• Top 20% — high-value activities that contribute
significantly toward your goals
• Bottom 80% – activities that need to be done, but don’t
contribute as significantly toward your goals
• 0% – activities that should be delegated, or simply not
done at all
c. Determine how much time you actually spent in each Value column
relative to your total working hours.
3.
Introduction Exercise (Bring to the Forum)
Please answer the questions for the first session.
We look forward to seeing you on January 22 between 8:30 and 8:45
a.m. to check in. Call us at 415-695-9296 if you have any
questions.
