Writing Mentors
Writing is central to the craft of good advocacy and the skill that legal
advocates use most frequently. For mentors the tension lies in
representing the client well when presented with a below standard piece of
writing. Under deadline pressure, rewriting seems faster and easier than
giving feedback, allowing the author to rewrite and learn from the
process. Yet the best way to learn how to write is to write when the final
result matters, under the tutelage of experienced writers. This workshop
shows you how to take this situation and turn it into a powerful learning
experience.
This
hands-on, interactive workshop is intended for supervisors, colleagues
and others who are mentoring staff on ways to develop their writing
skills. It focuses on the
tools that can assist mentors and mentees as well as key skills involved
in mentoring.
