An original hand painted production art cel from "Mowgli's Brothers", by four time Oscar winner, animator Chuck Jones (1912-2002). Jones created classic cartoon characters including the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Pepe LePew, Michigan J. Frog, Marvin Martian and Charlie Dog. He contributed significantly to Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny and with Dr. Seuss created "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (1966).

The animated television cartoon is based on "Mowgli's Brothers", the first story in Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book (1894). A wolf family adopts a human cub and names him Mowgli. The wolves' protection of Mowgli has frustrated tiger Shere Khan who wishes to claim him as prey. Several years later when Akela, the wolf leader grows old, Shere Kahn wants the wolves to hand Mowgli over to him.

The art cel shows Shere Kahn and his lackey, the jackel Tabaqui (looking a lot like Wile E. Coyote) watching Akela, limp home after failing to make a kill. Donated by Greg Bass.
